Guesthouse Bianca | Bed & Breakfast | Santa Teresa | Rio de Janeiro | Brazil | Guestbook & Testimonials

As newcomers to Rio, our stay at Guido’s house couldn’t have been more perfect. His gorgeous old mansion is situated in beautiful Santa Teresa, a historic neighborhood with tons of great restaurants and bars, just a bus or metro ride away from city’s other attractions.

During our stay, Guido put us up in the Sugar Loaf Room, so named for the spectacular view of Rio’s iconic landmark that greets you every morning. I can’t imagine a better introduction to the “Marvelous City” than sitting out on the room’s small terrace, sipping coffee in the morning – or beer at night – and looking over the coastline we’d seen in so many movies.

Guido was also an incredibly charming, low-key host. The guest rooms have their own entrance and kitchen, so we had more privacy than in any hotel. But if we had any questions, or needed any advice about getting around the city, Guido went out of his way to help us. He was never intrusive, but always made himself available. Guido’s generous, laid-back hospitality was our first taste of the warm “Carioca” culture Rio has made famous and I can’t imagine a better introduction to the place.
